Creating custom artwork requires a lot of research about the subject. I love these research and depending on how you want to be involved with the project I will gladly adapt to the level of commitment on research you want to your project.
Doing many special project for my own models, I found out that with regular tools the best option for custom work is a combination of masks and decals. Masks are better but it is often impractical to cut smaller details or complicated design. In that case decals are the next best option but with some drawbacks such as colour density. In these special case, using first a mask to paint a light coloured background before applying the decal is the ideal solution.
This method is very flexible and always ensured any projects could be brought to conclusion.
